Jazz Band Performance

Jazz I performed last Friday in front of Owl with the help of a few friends and alumni and did a nice job playing a 2 hour gig which included about 70% sight reading the new dance band charts. Thanks to the following for filling in: Daniel Vanderlinden, Melinda Philipsen, Chris Eddy, Emily Felkner, Whitney (Dinwiddie) Owings, Mark Taylor, and Kayleen Durley. The real story is that this was the first gig for our freshmen drum set player Shelby Royer and for our freshmen bass player Lean Daggat. Two hours of playing and Lean did not stop once and Shelby never turned the beat around or messed up the time.......this was HUGE. Congratulations!!!!!! I am sure this is going to be a great confidence booster for not only Shelby and Lean, but for the whole band.

Web Site/Calender

Mr. Taylor has done an awesome job on the band web site! All HS events are now in the google calender, and dates are available to print in a pdf file too.

Camping trip Adventure

Another camping adventure under my belt. This past Tuesday through Saturday I was out at rolling cove camp ground. Friday early evening was a big adventure, in the end my tent was the only one left standing through the high winds. Michael and Gabby started screaming, so we bailed to the SUV. Friday night late in contrast was very nice and I was out on the boat until 1:00 in the morning. A couple of nice fish but I threw them back because I do not like cleaning fish, especially if there is no where to freeze them.

Mr. D has finally blogged again!

Hi Everyone! Welcome to summer vacation! Municipal band has started, rehearsals are Monday nights 7-9 for high school students and community adults. Concerts are Thursday nights at 8:00 on the square.

In my free time I am enjoying my family, working on my tricked out little fishing boat, and will soon be working with drummers and rhythm section members for jazz.

Check out the jazz band on July 3rd in front of Owl pharmacy from 11:30 am - 1:30.

Thanks to all Jazz band members who played to raise money for relay for life on June 5th at the big band dance in the Howar old gym, and also the previous Thursday on the square.
